2011 Climens

By Chateau Climens

2011 Climens from Chateau Climens, Sauternes, Bordeaux

In the lexicon of Bordeaux vintages, the 2011 harvest was a chapter written amidst challenging climatic conditions, woven with threads of adversity yet still crafting a tapestry of remarkable successes. The 2011 Sauternes from Chateau Climens stands as a testament to the resilience and meticulous craftsmanship that define this storied estate.

Noble Rot: The Alchemy of Climate and Skill

Botrytis cinerea, the noble rot, was particularly capricious in 2011, demanding unswerving vigilance from the vignerons. Despite an early onset of flowering followed by an entwined dance of drought and dampness, Chateau Climens artfully harnessed these elements. Their dedication yielded a 2011 Climens that sings with precision and grace.

A Study in Contrasts

Each swirl of the glass unlocks a mélange of scents—a confluence of citrus zeal buoyed by an undercurrent of apricot and honeycomb. The tension on the palate is exquisite: the anticipated Sauterne's lavish viscosity is elegantly countered by a crisp acidic backbone, resulting in an equilibrium so deft it would beguile even the most discerning enthusiast.

The 2011 vintage brought forth conditions wherein even the grandest expectations were pitted against nature's mercurial will. Yet, here lies a creation that not only reflects its challenges but transcends them, presenting investors with an opportunity as delectable to the portfolio as it is to the palate.

A Vintage Worthy Of Investment

Indeed, consuming or collecting the 2011 Climens presents itself as not merely an indulgence in oenological delight but also a tactile opportunity in wine investment. With its potential for prolonged cellar maturation and ever-growing acclaim among connoisseurs and investors alike, securing parcels of this extraordinary nectar from Chateau Climens assures one both sensory joy and tangible reward.

Thriving amidst adversity, the 2011 Climens from Chateau Climens encapsulates resilience crafted into liquid gold—a bottle that promises to not only adorn your cellar but to appreciate with grace as time weaves its narrative around this exceptional vintage.

Pale lemon-gold in color, the 2011 Climens opens with stuck flint and earthy notions over a core of tropical fruit—pineapple and guava—plus wafts of fungi and fresh straw. The palate lends oodles of complex layers with plenty of botrytis-inspired complexity melding with the ripe tropical notes, finishing with great length. Tempting to drink now, it should reward cellaring over 20+ years.
