By Domaine Coche-Dury

1997 Meursault Caillerets from Domaine Coche-Dury, Burgundy, France

One is often seduced by the charm of a wine that speaks eloquently of its vintage. The 1997 Meursault Caillerets from Domaine Coche-Dury is such a vintage - a true reflection of the sun-soaked tapestry of Burgundy’s lauded terroirs combined with the vicennial touch of winemaking mastery.

The Pinnacle of Precision and Care

In the hands of the meticulous vignerons at Domaine Coche-Dury, 1997 granted us a Meursault Caillerets pave-laid with distinction and complexity. The wine navigates between opulence and tension like a masterfully conducted symphony; 1997's benevolent climate bolstered this equilibrium, bestowing an intriguing focus on the wine’s minerality. Aromatically, it conjures up a cornucopia wherein hints of toasted hazelnuts and vanilla coalesce with the refined fragrance of white blossoms and citrus zest – an olfactory decadence which, decades later, magnetises connoisseurs and investors alike.

A Vintage Apart

The impact of '97 upon this cuvée is indisputable in its palate profile: an embroidered silkiness sets it apart from its siblings. On tasting, one uncovers layers - sculpted by cool stone nuances beneath a surface adorned with ripe peach and a mélange of tropical fruits that thrive when kissed by the sun – akin to 1997's generous disposition. These climatic graces glided seamlessly into maturity in cellars, maturing into wines renowned for their rare agility to pair robustness with grace.

This very agility makes the 1997 Meursault Caillerets a prized allocation for investors seeking wines with legacy value. Few bottles manifest the integrity of both time and terroir as compellingly – thus proving a judicious addition to any anchored portfolio.

Unveiling Elegance and Investment Worth

As my pen dances once more across memories of this exquisite Meursault, I am reminded that in these cherished bottles sleep not only fine liquid but also vignettes of history ready to be savoured or matured further within the fabric of strategic collections. For those who can secure it, 1997 Meursault Caillerets from Domaine Coche-Dury deftly cement itself as an investable beacon of Burgundy's prowess in a bottle.

I was enthralled by the Meursault Caillerets' sweet butter and cinnamon-infused nose. Its flavor profile, crammed with apples, peach pits, minerals, and stones, also reveals traces of citrus fruits. This medium-to-full-bodied and velvety wine has admirable breadth of flavors, superb focus, and a fine finish. Anticipated maturity: 2000-2006+.
