2012 Meursault Perrieres from Domaine Coche-Dury, Burgundy, France

The inaugural sips of the 2012 Meursault Perrieres from Domaine Coche-Dury affirm that this particular vintage stands out as a sterling exemplar of the hallowed soils of Burgundy. Having spent decades chronicling the evolution and nuances of wine from this distinguished region, the 2012 manifestation has certainly etched itself into my sensory memory with its distinct attributes.

A Vintage Sculpted by Time and Terroir

Burgundy had its mettle tested with the 2012 vintage; a year marked by horticultural hurdles and reduced yields. Yet, such challenges have often mothered vinous miracles, and in this case, they have allowed a more concentrated and expressive juice eminence from the select bunches that survived. The Meursault Perrieres from Domaine Coche-Dury, being no stranger to the alchemistic conversion of adversity into complexity, presents itself with layers that unfold with each swirl of the glass.

The Palette of Climatic Intricacy

On the palate, this 2012 offering weaves a narrative of rigorous stone fruits bolstered by an elegant oak spine, thanks to judicious maturation under the watchful eye of the domaine's custodians. The mineral drive is pronounced - a hallmark of not just this cru but magnified in this vintage due to concentrated phenolic maturity, imbuing every sip with a firm structure yet plush texture.

What further heightens the allure for fine wine investors is the manifest potential for longevity. An embodiment of investment potentiality, it possesses both immediate gratification in its youthful vivacity and promises further unveiling complexity over time - a trait that places it as a keystone in any discerning investor's portfolio.

In conclusion, as we consider adding to our collections, the 2012 Meursault Perrieres from Domaine Coche-Dury beckons with its unique signature – anointing it as one of Burgundy's reputable assets. It both dazzles connoisseurs today and pledges continuity in evolving magnificence. Its place amongst investment-grade wines is as steadfast as its mineral core; truly a vintage shaped by rarity and fraught triumph over the caprices of nature.

The 2012 Meursault 1er Cru les Perrières has a more austere and distant bouquet compared to the explosive Genevrières: wonderful stone and sea cave scents with oyster shell coming through with continued aeration. The palate is poised from the very well balanced tension and length, plus there is tangible salinity on the finish. This is the well-behaved cousin of the Genevrières but hey, who do you want to hang out with?
