2013 Meursault Perrieres from Domaine Coche-Dury, Burgundy, France

The 2013 vintage in Burgundy stood as a beacon of resilience after the region grappled with a tumultuous start to the growing season. Despite the capricious weather, the esteemed Domaine Coche-Dury harnessed these challenges to craft a Meursault Perrieres which intrigues connoisseurs and investors alike with its complex narrative.

An Epitome of Precision and Poise

The 2013 Meursault Perrieres is a testimony to the perseverance and meticulous cultivation techniques championed by Domaine Coche-Dury. This particular vintage benefitted from a delayed harvest, prompting the Chardonnay grapes to reach a quintessential balance of sugar and acidity—yielding a wine of pronounced precision and poise.

A Reflection of its Terroir

This enigmatic vintage encapsulates the characteristic minerality of the Perrieres appellation, evincing flinty accents that harmoniously intertwine with citrus zest and delicate orchard fruits. Oak influence is judiciously applied, allowing vanilla whispers to contribute depth without overwhelming the wine's innate vibrancy.

The palate is enticed by the 2013's tension between ripe fruit and rousing acidity, resulting in a finish that is both elongated and distinctly fresh. With age, this Meursault Perrieres has unfurled like an intricate tapestry; tertiary notes of hazelnut cream and brioche now emerge, showcasing an evolution that promises further maturation potential.

An Investment Worthy Droplet

Savvy collectors recognise that investment in this vintage can be rewarded not only through its liquid splendour but also through its increasing rarity. A conscientious acquisition of the 2013 Meursault Perrieres from Domaine Coche-Dury represents an astute addition to any portfolio, much lauded for its ability to strike a chord of sophistication within the confluence of fine wine investing.

In sum, amidst fluctuating climatic conditions that defined Burgundy's 2013 narrative, this Meursault Perrieres stands firmly as one of the most eloquent expressions from Domaine Coche-Dury. It beckons both the palate seeking excellence and the investor pursuing wines with promising horizons for value appreciation.

The 2013 Meursault 1er Cru Perrières is showing well, wafting from the glass with aromas of citrus oil, crisp yellow orchard fruit, pastry cream and toasted sesame, subtly framed by a deft application of new wood. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, with a delicately textural attack, good depth and concentration at the core and a bright spine of acidity, concluding with a nicely defined finish. This isn't as powerful or muscular as Coche's 2013 Corton-Charlemagne, but alongside that wine it ranks, unsurprisingly, as one of the two high points in this comparatively challenging white Burgundy vintage. While the 2013 Perrières is somewhat approachable today, it is still several years away from its peak.
