2010 Solaia from Antinori, Tuscany, Italy

The 2010 Solaia by Antinori represents a sublime example of a stellar vintage from this exceptional super Tuscan wine producer. As an esteemed player in the Italian wine landscape since the 14th century, Antinori is renowned for crafting some of the most unique and sought-after fine wines from Italy.

A Striking Vintage Amidst Timeless Classics

While Antinori’s rich portfolio speaks volumes about their prowess, it is their individual masterpieces like the 2010 Solaia that set them apart. A superb blend primarily featuring Cabernet Sauvignon with a subtle touch of Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc, this exquisite wine paints a beautiful portrait of the unique climatic complexities Tuscany experienced in this particular year.

An unusually cold winter followed by a mild spring led to meticulous budding that allowed these grapes to fully embody an inherent freshness. The later heatwave concentrated these elements into a voluptuous swathe of vivid aromas and intense flavors.

Integrating Investment with Ideal Pleasure

For the discerning investor, the 2010 Solaia is not only a fine wine representative of Antinori's exceptional ouvre, but is also a firm statement among their celebrated line-up. Classically rendered yet innovative within its context, it offers reliability time and time again. It resonates on all counts – quality, harmony, intricacy and investment potential.

The engaging tapestry of this robust wine aligns effortlessly with layers of blackberry, plum, and leather notes accented by spicy undercurrents. It teems with elegance which unveils its wonderful complexity upon cellar aging - an aspect revered by savvy wine investors.

As one of the cornerstones of wine investment worldwide, the demand for Antinori wines ensures healthy growth and responsible stewardship. Collectors and enthusiasts alike cherish the chance to experience the richness of this unique blend, which is why the 2010 Solaia remains an attractive addition to any fine wine collection.

The 2010 Solaia puts on an incredible show that hits all the senses and keeps your unyielding attention for as long as there is wine in the bottle. There are various ways to describe the bouquet. First, is the wine’s sweet side, as this beautiful 75-20-5 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc delivers ripe cherry, black currant, baking spice and dark chocolate. After that, the wine becomes redolent of tobacco, balsam, bay leaf, rum cake and dark licorice. The bouquet is all encompassing and complete. A firmly structured backbone is padded generously by the fleshy richness of its consistency. This is a gorgeous wine that will age for decades. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2040. The past 12 months mark one of the most exciting times in the long, long history of Antinori. Marchese Piero Antinori and his daughters inaugurated their monumental winery in Bargino, about 20 minutes from Florence in late 2012 after a series of last-minute preparations and sleepless nights. Winery doors officially opened to the public in 2013. It would be impossible to exaggerate to grandeur of this sprawling, multimillion-dollar underground edifice. Angelo Gaja told me at the opening that Antinori’s new winery is the most revolutionary event in modern Italian wine. I agree. With a museum, restaurant and tasting area, it represents Italy’s most ambitious effort yet to make wine the ultimate destination. Importer: Ste. Michele Wine Estates; www.ste-michelle.com
