Delas Freres Cote Rotie la Landonne

2006 Cote Rotie la Landonne

By Delas Freres

2006 Côte Rôtie la Landonne from Delas Frères, Rhone

So oft the journey of fine wine creation and investment is hinged on evanescent moments of subtle climatic variations, conferring upon each year its unrepeatable signature. The 2006 Côte Rôtie la Landonne by Delas Frères tip-toed gracefully upon the gridlines of such climatic synchronicity in the famed wine hills of Rhône.

When tradition meets a fortunate season

The 2006 vintage in Rhône was one that gifted winemakers with an exuberant harvest, graced with the cool nights and warm days which define the region’s best vintages. It was a year inscribed with the vintage character that mature investigable wines like this 2006 Côte Rôtie la Landonne yearn for.

Bearing the fruit of the Syrah vines ensconced in Rhone's schist-rich, mica-laden terroir, the tannins in this vinous orchestra have been tamed without sacrificing their underline sinew or robust structure.

Crafted elegance: a sensory bouquet

A seduction of the senses begins with an olfactory gravitation towards notes of dark cocoa, black olive and smoked meat with each pour, a sensory mosaic unique to this splendid 2006 vintage. Truly exemplary of Rhône Syrah expressions, it teases your palate further with rich blackberry and plum nuances framed by smoky undertones.

There's an almost incomparable elegance in how the vintage unfurls. They say a wine is like a soul - it matures with time to reveal its true nature. An echo of this idea sings true as we approach the slick liquid silk climax of the tasting journey - an ode to the successful maturation of this insatiable vintage.

The finale: investment appeal

In this 2006 Côte Rôtie la Landonne one can transcend beyond merely appreciating fine wine, to embracing its personality and understanding its investment capacity. Blended harmoniously within the custom handed down by Delas Frères, one finds a wine that not only sings a sweet symphony but signs a sound cheque.

Combining the key ingredients of rarity, provenance and longevity, the 2006 Côte Rôtie la Landonne emerges as a distinguished choice in a selective portfolio for discerning wine investors. Summarising it is much akin to capturing a dance in words - it's an embrace of tradition, innovation, superb craftsmanship and ephemerality that makes every sip worth savouring and every bottle worth investing.

The 2006 Cote Rotie la Landonne is a head turner that has more depth and density than most in this charming vintage. Cured meats, toasted spices, licorice and black currant aromas and flavors all emerge from this full-bodied, concentrated Cote Rotie that has decadent amounts of fruit and plenty of sweet tannin. I'd happily drink bottles anytime over the coming 15+ years.
