2003 Cote Rotie Lancement from Domaine M&S Ogier D'Ampuis, Rhone

The 2003 Cote Rotie Lancement from Domaine M&S Ogier D'Ampuis is a vintage that allows you to truly appreciate the extraordinary wines this exceptional Rhone estate delivers year after year. The standard set by the vintages preceding it was formidable, yet the 2003 instalment remains a standout achievement with its unique attributes.

Nature's generosity meets winemakers' dedication

2003 was a record-breaking year in many parts of Europe, with temperatures soaring far above average, and in turn molding the vintage character distinctively. In Rhone, these climatic conditions were well harnessed by Domaine M&S Ogier D'Ampuis. The warm season contributed to the wine's robust structure while maintaining its inherent complexity and elegance.

The deep, dark purple hue of this vintage foretells of its powerful flavours. It renders a rich tapestry of black fruit flavors - blackberries, currants and plums, stitched together with subtle notes of violets and spices. As you take in its aromas, one is likely to sense a hint of smoky bacon fat, as it is customary of Cote Rotie wines, making it a voluptuous delight to the discerning palate.

A Rare Commodity - Investing in Pleasure

The rare complexity of both flavour and aroma positions the 2003 Cote Rotie Lancement distinctly apart from other vintages. While the excessive heat may have caused smaller yields, it also amplified the concentration of fruitiness, making each bottle quite literally a rare treasure.

Wine investing need not be complex when considering vintages like this - they deliver both in terms of performance and pleasure. So one does not just accrue monetary returns, but acquires memories of exceptional sensorial encounters as well.

Rhone delivers, year after year

Every wine tells a story. The 2003 Cote Rotie Lancement from Domaine M&S Ogier D'Ampuis is no different. Akin to an autobiography, it is a splendid testament to winemaking excellence and the unpredictable nuances of Mother Nature. This vintage delivers the quintessence of Rhone; it captures the soul of the terroir and presents it like a precious keepsake for your wine collection.

Made completely from the Cote Blonde, the 2003 Cote Rotie Lancement exhibits sweet aromas of exotic white fruits intermixed with raspberry and cassis notes. It offers a flattering, voluptuously-textured style, medium to full body, and superb purity as well as intensity. Sadly, there are only 100 cases for the world. By the way, the recently released 2001 Lancement is spectacular. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2015. Importer: Robert Kacher Selections, Washington, DC; tel. (202) 832-9083
